I want to confess that I am 100% obsessed with traditional crafts. In fact, it’s this obsession, coupled with a passion for design, that is at the very heart of what we do here at 53 Interiors.
It’s our dedication to time-honoured skills that brings us clients from across Glasgow who want to create characterful, unique homes — rooms full to the brim with personality and handmade touches.
Handcrafted Glasgow Interiors
My own set of traditional skills involves a needle and thread. Whether it’s hand-sewing curtains, hand-stitching a silk lampshade, or lashing down springs on an antique chair, every single stitch pays homage to the artisans who came before.
Working by hand takes time and dedication — but the end result is always worth it: beautifully crafted, one-of-a-kind pieces made to last. The opposite of mass production in every single way.
Individuality, Stitched In
Every piece I create is unique. Individuality is, quite literally, stitched in — but why do I choose to work this way?

Because I’m pushing back against mass production, poor quality, and trend-driven interiors, and advocating for a more nuanced approach to homemaking.
I offer my clients something different — an opportunity to own truly bespoke, luxury pieces for their home. Pieces designed and crafted especially for them; pieces that resonate with their personality and elevate not just the aesthetic of their home, but its ambiance too.
A Lifelong Love Affair

I’ve been obsessed with art in all its forms since childhood — in fact, I’ve been called a serial hobbyist more than once (I take this as a huge compliment). But it wasn’t until I trained as a curtain designer that I discovered my talent (and love) for hand-sewing.
I’d never fully appreciated the work and skill required to create the perfect window treatment. I never knew how many different kinds of stitches there are in the world — or the purpose of each one. I didn’t even know you could hand-sew a lampshade! (I’d never actually considered how lampshades are made.)
Now, as a professional seamstress — in the most traditional sense — the biggest lesson I’ve learned is that nothing mass-produced can ever rival bespoke design and handcrafting. And that’s what I want to share.
I’m so privileged to work with clients across Glasgow who are ambitious about their interiors and want their homes to tell their story. I love that I get to be a small part of that process.
Honing the art of handcrafting has opened up a world of possibilities for me as a designer and maker — and I pass those possibilities on to my clients.
My mantra? If you can imagine it, I’ll do my best to make it.
If you’re ready to treat your home to some handmade luxury, get in touch — let’s bring your dream to life.
